Detailed below is an overview of the installation procedure that will need to be followed for V.A.G applications that are supported by Bluefin. This same process will need to be followed if the Bluefin handset is not already pre-loaded with the a matching file - such as on BMW's. The process is very simple and intuitive. Full instructions are supplied with the Bluefin handset and Superchips UK are on hand to provide any Technical input that you need - Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.

Step 1: Your Bluefin arrives
Your Bluefin will arrive from JKM - Postage Free For UK customers. It is advisable to retain all packaging.
Step 2: Bluefin Box open
In this image you can see the Bluefin handset, Installation instructions and PC Software CD
Step 3: Contents required
Bluefin Handset with flying cable all removed from the packaging and alongside the USB data Cable and PC Software CD
Step 4: Go to your Vehicle
Go out to your vehicle and locate the On Board Diagnostic connector. This is used for reading and programming the ECU.

Step 5: Locate OBD Port
The On Board Diagnostics Connector can be seen in this picture (Mk5 Golf) at the top right hand corner. It is a 16 pin connector that is typically purple in colour. Most On Board Diagnostics connectors are found in a similar location to this, however each manufacture can move its location slightly.
Step 6: Connect to Vehicle
Connect the Flying Cable from the Bluefin handset to the Diagnostics connector as found in step 5.
The Bluefin handset will spring into life and prompt you on what to do for the next steps. This process allows the Bluefin handset to download the details from the Factory Stock ECU into the Bluefin handset.
Step 7: Load PC Software
For V.A.G applications (and some others) you will need to load the supplied software onto your PC. Follow the on screen prompts during the installation.
Step 8: Connect USB Cable
Connect the supplied USB cable from the back of the Bluefin to your PC. The Bluefin handset will come up with a message on the front display to state that it is connected to a PC.

Step 9: Upload Read File
Open the Bluefin software installed in step 7. Fill in your details in the box on the left hand side of the screen. On the bottom right hand side there will be a blue button that is lablled 'Connect'. Press this button and the file that has been read from your vehicle and subsequently stored on the Bluefin handset, will be transferred to Superchips Servers.
Step 10: Load Bluefin
Wait for the Email from Superchips to state that your Superchips file is ready.
Reconnect the USB cable and launch the Bluefin software again. This time when you press the Blue 'Connect' button, a file will be downloaded from Superchips Servers into your Bluefin Handset.
Step 11: Return to car
Return to your vehicle and locate the On Board Diagnostic connector again. Then plug in the Bluefin handset Flying Cable.
Ensure that items such as heated seats, radio, Air conditioning etc are all switched off.

Step 12: Installation Complete
The Bluefin handset will spring into life and prompt you on what to do for the next programming steps. This process allows the Bluefin handset to program the Engine Control Unit with the Performance Software. On completion remove the handset and enjoy your vehicles new found performance.
